Tuna Salad with a Twist

Tuna salad can be sublime, or not.  Yikes.
This version includes a variety of crunchies to jazz up both the texture and the flavor.
The crunch of the apple and celery add both flavor and texture.
The pickle adds a bit of zing and sweetness, depending on what kind of pickle you choose.
The nuts add a savory flavor as well as crunch.
The herbs elevate the experience by adding the grace notes of green.
And you can eat this raw or cooked, in a sandwich or stuffed in a vegetable. Options!

Ingredients:
  • Tuna, in a can or in a pouch or in a jar*
  • A binding agent, such as mayonnaise or yogurt
  • Apple, diced
  • Celery, minced
  • Pickle, minced, such as watermelon pickles or Cornichon
  • Nuts, such as slivered almonds or pecan bits
  • Herbs, minced or dried, such as tarragon

Method:
  • mix all the ingredients together
  • decide how  you want to eat it
    • a great way is on a sandwich
    • another way is to stuff it into an acorn squash and bake it for 45 minutes
    • yet another way is to serve it on rounds of cucumber
    • still yet another way is to serve it in lettuce wraps
